| One of our web
crawlers will visit your web site whenever you submit the web
site URL from our submission page.
Usually the web site will be crawled within a few hours after
being submitted. When one of our web
crawlers visits your web page, the web crawler will use the
first 80 characters of the page title listing title, and the
first 230 characters of the meta-description tag is used for
the default description. If there is no meta description
tag, then the first 230 characters of the text found in the
body is used. (It may be helpful for you to refer to our
meta-tag example page when
setting up your meta-tags.)
Keywords are taken from the entire web page
body. The number of keywords saved with a listing varies
according to the listings Q value.
The thumbnail image is retrieved using a
screen resolution of 800 pixels by 600 pixels at the instant
that the page is completely loaded.
A listing is updated when the URL for that
listing is re-submitted and
subsequently re-indexed by one of our web crawlers, however
the category information, country and postal code can only be
specified once.
To change the category information,
country or postal code, you must log into the webmaster's
Listing Manager and change this
information there.
Once a URL is added to our search index, a
confirmation email is sent showing how the default listing
appears. You may also check the listing by going to the
Listing Search page.
Not all URL's that are submitted to
SearchSight.com are added to our listings, you may find it
useful to view the top reasons a
page is not added to our listings. |
